USC Men Sweep Through NCAA Singles Opening Round|

WACO, TEXAS -- USC's senior contingent of competitors in the NCAA Singles Championship bracket proved they came to play, with all three Trojans snagging straight-set victories in today's first round of singles play at Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. In the Round of 64, USC's Roberto Quiroz, Jonny Wang and Yannick Hanfmann all punched tickets to tomorrow's singles Round of 32. Also tomorrow, Hanfmann and Quiroz will team up for the first round of doubles action as the No. 2 seeded pair in the draw.
The first Trojan on the courts today after a morning rain delay was #25 Roberto Quiroz, who was up against North Florida's #96 Jack Findel-Hawkins. Quiroz would punch up a 6-4, 6-3 win to get his trip to tomorrow's Round of 32. So, too, did USC's #45 senior Jonny Wang. Wang powered up for a 6-1, 6-4 win over #89 Samir Iftikhar of New Mexico to secure his advancement for the second season in a row. The day's action came to a close for the Trojans when USC's #15 Yannick Hanfmann, who holds a 9-16 seed in this year's draw, pinned up another straight-set win to join his teammates in tomorrow's next round. Hanfmann delivered a 6-3, 6-1 win over Oklahoma's #44 Dane Webb today.
