USC’s Holt/Smith Wrap NCAA Run In Round of 32|

The USC men’s tennis team’s time in Athens, Ga., has come to a close after an NCAA Doubles loss today at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. USC’s #14-ranked freshman pairing of Brandon Holt and Riley Smith were up against the nation’s #7 team in the opening Round of 32 today, taking a loss that wraps the pair’s strong opening season as Trojans.
Holt and Smith lined up against Oklahoma State’s Cash/Kadhe, who had earned a 5-8 seed into the 2017 NCAA Doubles draw and held a #7 national ranking. The #14 Trojan freshman pair suffered a couple tough breaks to fall out of line against their Cowboy opponents, taking a final 6-4 6-3 loss to wrap up their time in Athens in the NCAA Round of 32.
Holt/Smith posted a 25-8 overall record together in doubles this season, having gone 18-5 in dual-match play, which includes a key upset of the nation’s #1 team during the NCAA Team Round of 16.
