Max de Vroome Named Pac-12 Player of the Week|
March 14, 2016
Senior Max de Vroome secured the first win of the day in doubles and then clinched the Trojans’ road win in singles, beating host #26 Tulsa in a key nonconference shutout of the Golden Hurricane. For his efforts in driving USC to victory, de Vroome has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week. This is the second career selection for de Vroome, who last earned the honor as a freshman.
In Saturday’s tangle at Tulsa, de Vroome combined forces with freshman Jake DeVine in doubles and hammered out a 6-2 win from court two to help USC along to the doubles point. The #32 de Vroome showed no fear against Tulsa’s top gun #39 Or Ram-Harel on court one, grabbing the first set in a tiebreaker and then staying the course to a 7-6, 6-1 win that clinched the victory for the Trojans. USC improves to 8-3 overall with the road win.
De Vroome and the Trojans are now bound for a journey to Indian Wells for competition at the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Challenge presented by Oracle. There, USC will face off against Oklahoma State in a 1 p.m. match on Saturday (March 19) before squaring off against Baylor at 10 a.m. on Sunday (March 20).
