Max de Vroome Picks Up Another Pac-12 Player of the Week Award|
April 4, 2016
Senior Max de Vroome was in fine form in leading the Trojans to two important Pac-12 victories over Cal and Stanford. For his powerful performances, de Vroome has picked up his second selection of the season as Pac-12 Player of the Week.
The captain got a doubles win against Cal’s Goransson/Griffith to start the day and would later come through with the match-clinching singles victory on a gutsy three-set comeback to beat Cal’s #28 Florian Lakat 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 on court one. The next day, de Vroome’s singles match was suspended, but he’d make sure to post a powerful singles win for the Trojans later. The #25-ranked de Vroome served up a 6-3, 7-5 upset win over Stanford’s #6 Tom Fawcett to lift the Trojans to a 2-1 lead against the Cardinal on the way to a final 6-1 USC win.
Now with three Pac-12 Player of the Week selections to his name, de Vroome will lead the Trojans on a Pac-12 road trip this week. USC will visit Utah for a 4 p.m. MT matchup in Salt Lake City on Friday (April 8) before heading to Tempe to take on Arizona at 1 p.m. on Sunday (April 10).
