USC men’s tennis — winners of five NCAA Championships in the past seven seasons — are all set to kick off the 2015-16 campaign this week. As the Trojans set up to open the fall, several USC players have popped up in the Oracle/ITA national preseason rankings.

Leading the way this season in the singles list is junior Nick Crystal, who weighs in with a career-best #42 ranking. Crystal was a freshman when the Trojans last won the NCAA crown in 2014. That one was clinched by then-sophomore Max de Vroome, who now holds court as USC’s lone senior on the squad and boasts a #61 national preseason ranking in singles to go along with a place in the doubles rankings as well. Paired with newcomer Jack Jaede, the two Trojans are standing tall at #47 in the land in doubles as they begin their first season as teammates at Troy.

The 2015-16 Trojans will get their fall action underway as they head to competition at the Battle in the Bay in San Francisco from Sept. 18-20. USC’s full set of new freshmen — Kalman Boyd, Jake DeVine, Jack Jaede and Logan Smith — are all enlisted for competition at the event, along with sophomore Tanner Smith.
