The USC men’s tennis team is off to Tulsa, Okla., this week for a stretch of elite competition at the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships. The singles and doubles assignments are set, with prequalifying action coming up on Saturday (Oct. 1). Qualifying rounds are slated to begin Oct. 3, and the main draw kicks off Oct. 6 and runs through the championship bouts on Oct. 10. In all, eight of the nine Trojans heading into Tulsa will be making their debuts at the ITA All-American as only senior Nick Crystal has played at the event before.

USC has three Trojans slotted for prequalifying singles play, as senior Rob Bellamy — fresh off a run to the Battle in the Bay singles title last week — accompanied by sophomore Jack Jaede and junior Henry Ji as the trio tries to make a prequalifying push to advance into qualifying. Five USC players are lined up for qualifying. Freshman Riley Smith and Brandon Holt will check in for duty in qualifying, joined by sophomores Laurens Verboven, #63 Jake DeVine and #48 sophomore Logan Smith, who has also been listed as an alternate for a main draw spot. A relative veteran of the event, senior Nick Crystal — ranked #27 in the nation — is locked in for another running the main draw.

On the doubles side of the coin, USC has two pairs slated for qualifying rounds in Thibault Forget / Logan Smith and Rob Bellamy / Jack Jaede. They’ll aim to make their ways into the main draw, where USC’s #10-ranked duo Nick Crystal / Laurens Verboven and freshman power couple Brandon Holt / Riley Smith.

At last year’s event USC was represented by only two Trojans in Tulsa, with then-junior Nick Crystal making his first appearance with spots in singles and doubles, joined by senior teammate Max de Vroome alongside him in doubles qualifying. De Vroome won all three of his qualifying singles matches last year but fell in the main draw Round of 64. Crystal, meanwhile, made moves through to the Round of 16 in the singles main draw.
