Members of the USC men's tennis team journey over to Malibu this week in an effort to defend a Trojan title sweep at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships. Hosted by Pepperdine again this year, the event offers up a chance for USC to make it a third straight year with an all-Trojan doubles final. Last year's doubles champs Max de Vroome and Eric Johnson are set to team up again to make a run at another crown at the tourney. The action begins on Friday (Oct. 17) and continues daily through championship matches set for Tuesday (Oct. 21).

Last year's singles champ, Yannick Hanfmann, won't be in the mix this year, as he's already punched his ticket to the ITA National Indoor Championships after his finish as a singles and doubles finalist with teammate Roberto Quiroz at the ITA All-American. The winners of regional titles are awarded a trip to the ITA National Indoor Championships, held next month in New York.

Although Hanfmann and Quiroz are out of the draw, there are still plenty of Trojans chomping at the bit for a deep run in Malibu. Fellow senior Jonny Wang is USC's next highest ranked player, weighing in at #39 in the nation and locked in as the No. 2 seed in the singles draw. Junior Max de Vroome isn't far behind. The #47 player in the nation, he's taken the No. 4 seed this week. Fresh off a title sweep at the Battle in the Bay last weekend, sophomore Nick Crystal is a 9-16 seed in singles, as is his Battle doubles champ partner Connor Farren. Senior #124 Eric Johnson, too, is in that No. 9-16 seed spot. Joining their fellow Trojans in the singles mix will also be sophomore Rob Bellamy and freshmen Henry Ji and Tanner Smith.

In the doubles realm, two Trojan tandems have scored seeds in that draw. Max de Vroome and freshman Tanner Smith are tabbed at No. 6, with Eric Johnson and Jonny Wang at No. 8. Unseeded but also ready for action in the doubles draw are two more USC pairs. Nick Crystal will partner with David Laser for Laser's first action as a Trojan, and Rob Bellamy will join up with Connor Farren.

All the action and results will be available at Pepperdine's Tournament Central page.
