Brandon Holt Hits NYC For USTA/ITA National Indoors

    Nov. 2, 2016

USC freshman Brandon Holt will carry a 10-match singles win streak along with him on this week's venture to New York. The young Trojan earned himself a slot alongside the nation's best collegiate players with last month's run to the ITA All-American consolation title. Now, Holt lines up for elite action at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, running Nov. 3-6 at the USTA/Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

Holt has been on cruise control in this early stage of his Trojan career. He'll pack a 16-2 singles record into his duffel bag for this trip, thanks to a run of 10 straight wins that has carried him through the ITA All-American consolation crown and then this week's rally to the Southern California Intercollegiate singles championship. His only losses as a Trojan have been three-setters, although he's won three others to date.

Holt -- who was ranked as the #6 newcomer in the nation in the first set of ITA national rankings on Sept. 13 -- will open up the ITA National Indoors against Chris Vrabel of Cornell at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday (Nov. 3) in the Round of 32.

While Holt is engaged in action in New York, two other young Trojans will be competing in Las Vegas at the Easley Memorial Tournament. Freshman Riley Smith and sophomore Jake DeVine will each play Flight 1 singles and combine forces in doubles for that competition, running Nov. 4-6 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the UNLV campus.
