No. 4 USC Men's Volleyball Swept At Unranked CS Northridge

    Damani Lenore had 13 kills and 4 blocks to lead the unranked Cal State Northridge men's volleyball team to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 home sweep over No. 4 USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Friday (Jan. 24).

    USC fell to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the MPSF, while the Matadors improved to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the MPSF.

    CSUN served 9 aces in the match, including 4 from Tavis Magorien. The Matadors' Greg Falkner had 6 blocks to help CSUN post a 12.5 to 6.0 blocking edge.

    For USC, Tanner Jansen came off the bench to see his first action of 2014 and responded with a team-best 7 kills while hitting .417. Henry Cassiday had 11 digs as USC had 32 digs to CSUN's 19.

    The Trojans fell behind midway through each set and never could catch up. Troy was down 8-4 in the first set, 15-12 in the second set and then 14-10 in the final set.

    USC now returns home to the Galen Center to host Cal Baptist on Jan. 29 in an 8 p.m. MPSF match that will be shown live nationally on the Pac-12 Networks.
