No. 6 Pepperdine Men's Volleyball Sweeps USC|

Matt Tarantino had 15 kills while hitting .400 to lead the No. 6-ranked Pepperdine men’s volleyball team to a 31-29, 25-22, 25-23 sweep over unranked USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Saturday (March 26) in Malibu.
Pepperdine improved to 12-7 overall and 11-7 in the MPSF, while USC dropped to 6-16 overall and 4-14 in the MPSF.
Tarantino also had 6 digs, 3 aces and 3 blocks for the Waves, while David Wieczorek had 10 kills (hitting .400) and Weston Barnes had 8 digs.
Pepperdine hit .381 to USC’s .356, while the Trojans had more blocks (6.5 to 4.0).
The first set seesawed all the way into overtime until Pepperdine scored the set’s final 3 pints while hitting .342 to USC’s .371. In the second set, Pepperdine built a slight 5-3 edge and the Trojans were never able to catch up despite hitting .387 to the Waves’ .391.USC held a 21-17 lead in the final set and the Trojans were up 23-20 before the Waves scored the match’s final 5 points (Pepperdine hit .435 in the set).
USC now returns to the Galen Center for its final 2 home matches of 2016, hosting UC San Diego on Saturday (April 2) and UC Irvine on Sunday (April 3), both at 7 p.m. PT. The match versus the Anteaters will be shown live on Pac-12 Los Angeles.
