No. 6 UCLA Men's Volleyball Sweeps No. 11 USC|

Jake Arnitz had 12 kills while hitting .632 and Dylan Missry added 10 kills and 4 aces to lead the No. 6-ranked UCLA men’s volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-19, 25-17 sweep over No. 11 USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Wednesday (March 29) in USC’s Galen Center.
UCLA improved to 16-7 overall and 9-6 in the MPSF while winning its sixth straight match. The Trojans had their season-best 5-match winning streak snapped while falling to 11-13 overall and 5-10 in the MPSF.
Mitch Stahl had 9 blocks for the Bruins, while Hagen Smith had 9 digs and 3 aces.
UCLA hit .373 in the match to USC’s .088. The Bruins also had more blocks (10.5 to 6.0) and aces (8 to 0).
In the first set, UCLA ran off 5 straight points to go up 10-5 and USC couldn’t catch up as the Bruins had 5.5 blocks and served 4 aces. UCLA scored back-to-back points to open up a 10-8 edge in the second set and steadily pulled away while hitting .500. The Bruins used another 5-point run to build a 10-6 margin in the third set and kept building on the lead the rest of the way.
USC next hosts No. 15 UC Santa Barbara in an MPSF match on Friday (March 31) at 7 p.m. PT in the Galen Center.
