Tanner Jansen, one of five Trojan seniors honored on Senior Night, had 20 kills, 11 digs and 4 blocks to lead the No. 8-ranked USC men's volleyball team to a 27-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18 win over Concordia, the NAIA's top-ranked squad, in a non-conference match on Thursday (April 3) at USC's Galen Center.

USC improved to 16-9 overall, while the Eagles fell to 26-6. All of Concordia's losses in 2014 have come against NCAA Division I or II teams.

Jansen joined fellow seniors Henry Cassiday, Maddison McKibbin, Joey Booth and Paul Yoder in Senior Night ceremonies before the match.

The Trojans also rested two starters, setter Micah Christenson and kill leader Lucas Yoder.

McKibbin had 12 kills, Cassiday had 10 digs, Booth had 7 kills and 5 digs and Andy Benesh had 8 kills while hitting .438 and he added 8 blocks.

For Concordia, Parker Del Re had 15 kills and 8 digs, Mark Metrakos had 11 kills and Brett Anema had 5 blocks.

USC came back from a 22-18 deficit in the first set by tying it at 22-22 and then finally scoring the set's final 2 points (the Eagles had 4.5 blocks in the set). The Trojans scored back-to-back points to open a 6-4 lead in the second set and steadily pulled away while hitting .333 and getting 5.5 blocks. Concordia went on a 6-0 run in the third set to go up 10-8 and the Trojans could never catch up. USC scored the first 3 points of the fourth set and kept building on its lead.

USC concludes its MPSF regular season on Saturday (April 5) with a 7 p.m. match at No. 3 Pepperdine, with qualification and seeding potentially on the line for the upcoming MPSF tournament.
