Tanner Jansen Named AVCA National Player of the Week

    USC senior opposite hitter Tanner Jansen was named the AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week for his performance in wins against Cal State Northridge and No. 2 Long Beach State last week.

    Also, Trojan freshman outside hitter Lucas Yoder won honored with his third consecutive Off the Block National Freshmen of the Week honors for his showing last week. It is the sixth time this season that he has earned Off the Block National Freshman of the Week notice, the most of any player in the nation.

    Jansen had a match-high 13 kills while hitting .500 against Cal State Northridge, plus he had 5 digs in the Trojans' sweep. He then posted a career-high and match-best 26 kills while hitting .426, plus 8 digs and 3 blocks, in the 4-set victory over the 49ers.

    He joins Yoder as Trojans to win the AVCA weekly honor this year. Yoder did so the first week of the 2014 season.

    Yoder had 11 kills against Cal State Northridge and then 22 kills and 6 digs versus Long Beach State.
