USC junior setter Gert Lisha competed with the Albanian men’s national team in the recently-concluded 2016 Confederation of European Volleyball's European League.

Lisha appeared in all 6 of Albania’s matches. The team finished fourth in pool play, competing against Macedonia, Bulgaria and Denmark, and it did not advance to the final rounds. Estonia beat Macedonia in the final.

Lisha, who transferred to USC in the fall of 2015 from Lewis, was a part-time starting setter for the Trojans as a sophomore in 2016. He started 12 of the 15 matches in which he appeared, getting 378 assists, 31 digs and 15 blocks. He missed 6 of USC's first 7 matches of 2016 with a broken left hand.

He spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons at Lewis, as the Flyers appeared in a pair of NCAA Final Sixs (including finishing as runnersup in 2015). He saw action in 26 matches as a 2015 redshirt freshman and had 147 assists and 15 blocks.

He was born in the U.S., but has dual citizenship in Albania. He played for Albania in the 2013 FIVB World Grand Prix. His parents, Besnik and Valbona, played professional volleyball in Albania (his father, Besnik, was on the Albanian national team). He also is a close family friend with USC's 2000 College Player of the Year and 2-time U.S. Olympian Donald Suxho, a native of Albania.
