USC sophomore middle blocker Andy Benesh has been selected to play on the 12-player U.S. Men's Junior National Team that will compete at the 2014 NORCECA Men's U21 Continental Championship in El Salvador from July 28 to Aug. 3.

The U.S. Team will compete against squads from Barbados, Canada, Cuba, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and St. Lucia. The U.S. is scheduled to share a pool with Cuba, Mexico and Nicaragua.

The United States is the defending champion of the event, which was last held in 2012 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Benesh was named to the 2014 Off The Block Freshman All-American team and the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Freshman team. As a first-year freshman last season, he was fifth nationally in hitting percentage (a team-best .443, just shy of USC's rally scoring era record of .446). He led USC in blocks (91) and also had 190 kills and 60 digs. His .789 hitting percentage against UC Irvine was the top single match mark in the MPSF in 2014.
