U.S. Men's Volleyball, With Ex-Trojan Micah Christenson Setting, Falls To Canada In Olympic Opener

    The U.S. men's volleyball team, with former Trojan All-American Micah Christenson setting, opened Group Play in the Rio Olympics with a 25-23, 25-17, 25-23 upset loss to Canada on Sunday (Aug. 7).

    The U.S. is currently fifth in the FIVB world rankings, while Canada is 12th.

    Christenson had 31 assists, 2 digs and an ace. Fellow Trojan alum Murphy Troy is also on the U.S. squad, but did not see action against Canada.

    The U.S. continues Group Play with a match versus No. 4 Italy on Tuesday (Aug. 9) at 11 a.m. PT. The match can be viewed via live stream on NBCOlympics.com .
