Chase Koplow Named MPSF Player of the Week|
Sept. 28, 2015
The first Trojan to pick up an MPSF award this season is redshirt freshman Chase Koplow, who has been named the MPSF Player of the Week after his breakout performance in USC’s victorious MPSF and home opener last weekend.
In his first-ever start as a Trojan, Koplow scored three goals on three attempts as USC kicked off MPSF play with a 17-9 win over No. 7 Long Beach State. Koplow put in 14 minutes of work in the win, adding two assists and one steal to his three-goal outing as a starter. He also committed no turnovers, was not ejected and did not give up any goals defensively. With help from Koplow’s team-leading hat trick, the Trojans improved to 10-1 overall while taking a 1-0 start to MPSF competition.
Koplow has scored in six games for the Trojans to date, netting a total of 12 goals after this weekend’s hat trick. Koplow and the Trojans return to action this weekend with two games slated for Uytengsu Aquatics Center. On Saturday (Oct. 3), USC host Stanford in a crucial MPSF clash at 10:30 a.m. — a match to be televised live on Pac-12 Networks. The next day, USC will reconvene a long-awaited series against San Jose State, which has had its men’s water polo program revived after 34 years off the grid. The Trojans and the Spartans last faced off in 1979. This weekend, USC hosts SJSU on Sunday (Oct. 4) at 1 p.m.
