CORVALLIS, ORE. -- The USC women's basketball team was overmatched by No. 7 Oregon State today in Corvallis, Ore. After a slow start to the game, the Beavers heated up and hit the afterburners, leaving the Trojans behind and posting a final 68-35 victory. The program-low scoring output by USC spelled doom for the Trojans, who go to 11-9 overall and 3-6 in Pac-12 play with the loss to the hot-handed Beavers. Oregon State stays perfect in the conference with the win, now at 19-1 overall and 9-0 in Pac-12 action.

In the first half, it was an ill-timed scoring drought that took the wind out of USC's sails. The Trojans were largely in stride with the Beavers for the first stretch, but Oregon State's 3-point prowess combined with a seven-minute stretch of silence left USC in a 27-15 hole by halftime. USC was shooting just 21 percent from the floor to that point, overmatched by OSU's 35 percent from the floor and five first-half threes. In the next 20 minutes, Oregon State didn't let up. Five more threes fell for the Beavers, who heated up to 50 percent from the floor in the second half. OSU would finish out the win by shooting 46 percent overall, beating out USC's final effort of 25 percent. OSU won out on the boards 47-35 and served up eight blocks -- all from Ruth Hamblin. USC had only Kaneisha Horn finish up in double figures, as the senior scored 10 points for the Trojan cause. OSU, meanwhile, got a game-high 21 points from Jamie Weisner, who hit half her team's 3-pointers in the game, and a double-double from Deven Hunter with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Neither team was shooting particularly well from the floor in the first half of action, but Oregon State was able to drain four 3-pointers in the first 12 minutes of play. USC pulled even with the Beavers three times in that span, but OSU seemed to have a perimeter strike at the ready each time the Trojans crafted a comeback push. USC's lone 3-pointer of the half came from Brianna Barrett, tying it up at 13-13 with 9:10 on the clock. OSU knocked down its fourth three seconds later, and tallied a fifth three minutes after that to build out a 21-15 advantage with 5 minutes left in the half. The scoring slump for the Trojans would span the last 7:23 of the half, while Oregon State finished out the half on a 9-0 run to leave the Women of Troy in a 27-15 hole at halftime.

USC finally got a bucket to fall when Courtney Jaco slipped a pass to Alexyz Vaioletama for the score down low. OSU, though, had already nailed another 3-pointer before that, and had back-to-back threes ready and waiting for a response. Those long bombs put USC behind 38-17 with 17:15 to go. The Beavers would continue to pour in points. As the final three minutes approached, OSU had hit as many 3-pointers in the half (five) as USC had scored baskets from the floor. That overachievement by the Beavers had USC down by 32 points, and the Trojans would wind up with a 68-35 loss.

USC now looks to snap its four-game losing skid with a trip to Oregon. The Trojans will tangle with the Ducks at 5 p.m. on Monday (Feb. 2) in Eugene.
