LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - The USC women's basketball team avenged a poor outing on the road against Washington with a 68-52 victory over the visiting Huskies on Friday night at the Galen Center. The Trojans had four players finish in double figures for the first time since Dec. 21, getting a team-high 14 points from Nadia Parker, a career-high 13 from Simone Jelks, and 10 apiece from Hailey Dunham and Heather Oliver. The Women of Troy improve to 14-9 overall and are 7-5 in Pac-10 play, while Washington moves to 9-14, 4-7. Now 10-1 at home, USC will turn to host Washington State on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in USC's "Think Pink" game to raise breast cancer awareness.

USC stayed composed in the game, first answering a first-half dry spell to take a 33-17 lead at halftime. In the second half, although USC had led by as much as 19, Washington cut to within four with 5:45 to go. Again, the Trojans maintained control and ballooned their lead back up and put the Huskies out of reach down the stretch.

In avenging its 60-45 loss in Washington during the first half of Pac-10 action, USC flipped the percentages that had caused trouble for the Trojans in that road loss. The Trojans upped a 26 percent shooting percentage from Seattle to 46 percent on USC's home court. The USC defense, meanwhile, cut Washington's 45-percent outing from January's game to 34 percent at the Galen Center. The Trojans also held a rebounding edge over the Huskies, 38-36, led by a team-high eight from Dunham.

The Trojans peeled out to a 10-0 run in the first four minutes of action thanks in part to 3-pointers from Heather Oliver and Simone Jelks. Washington stopped the run with a putback from Katelan Redmon. The score stayed stuck at a 10-4 USC lead for almost five minutes until Laura McLellan converted a three-point play and made it 10-7 USC at 10:41. After almost eight minutes without scoring, USC broke its silence with another three from Jelks and a putback from Hailey Dunham to lift USC up 15-9 at 7:20. By the 3:13 mark, USC was back up to its 10-point lead on a pair of free throws from Oliver. She then grabbed a steal, and Camille LeNoir served up her third assist with a scoop to Nadia Parker on the break, and USC was up 27-15 with 2:46 to go in the half.

LeNoir was tagged with her fourth foul of the game early in the second half, and Washington's Sami Whitcomb became the first player in double figures thanks to a pair of 3-pointers in the first nine minutes of the half to get to 10 points for the Huskies. Washington would later follow up an Oliver three that pulled her to 10- points on the night with a 7-0 run that pulled the Huskies to within eight, as USC led 50-42 with 7:20 on the clock. Washington worked to within four with 5:45 to go, but Brynn Cameron drained a three to give USC's lead a boost. A jumper from LeNoir with 2:15 to go bumped USC to a 59-50 lead, and she later drilled both ends of a one-and-one with 1:32 remaining, getting USC up 61-50. Washington sent USC to the line during the final minute, and the Trojans got its last four points from Jelks on free throws to lift USC to a 68-52 final victory.

USC now turns to host Washington State in the Trojans' "Think Pink" game at the Galen Center. The Women of Troy tip off against the Cougars at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 10). The first 1,000 fans will receive a mini basketball, and all fans wearing pink will receive discounted $5 admission to the game.
