Cassie Harberts adds to her honor roll with a spot on the Naismith Watch List!

In just the first few weeks of Cassie Harberts' senior season, the USC forward has already made a notable impression in grabbing the attention of preseason awards lists one after another. After being named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate in late October and making the Wooden Award's Preseason Top 30, the women's basketball standout has now also been named to the Naismith Trophy Early Season Top 50 Watch List.

Named in honor of the founder of basketball, Dr. James Naismith, the award is known as the most prestigious award in college basketball, given to the best women's and men's college basketball players in the nation each year.

Harberts continues to leave her mark on both the international and collegiate stages as she competes in her final season with the Trojans. The forward was a gold medalist with Team USA at the World University Games this summer and is coming off of a junior season in which she finished as an All-Pac-12 Team selection.

Last year, Harberts averaged 18.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, leading the Trojans in points, rebounds, and blocks. As a junior she set USC school records in free throws made (207) and attempted (298) and rose to fifth all time on the USC career listing of free throws made. Through the first five games played this season, the senior is averaging 11.0 points per game and 5.8 rebounds.

Harberts treads in the footsteps of several Trojan stars. The last Women of Troy to be named to the Naismith Early Season Watch List were Jacki Gemelos and Briana Gilbreath -- both selected to the group at the start of the 2011-12 season. Before that pair, Shay Murphy was on the preseason watch list in 2006-07 and Ebony Hoffman was a preseason candidate in 2002-03. Two Women of Troy have won the Naismith Award in the past. Cheryl Miller won the award three years in a row, 1984-86, and Leslie won in 1994.
