Ree Earns Share Of Lead, USC Second After Northrop Grumman First Round|

Sophomore Robynn Ree, who finished the fall schedule with a win, picked up where she left with a 3-under 68 to earn a share of first while leading the No. 2 USC women’s golf team to second place after the first round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Sunday (Feb. 12) at the Palos Verdes (Calif.) G.C.
The Trojans combined for a 1-over 285, five strokes back of UCLA and two ahead of third-place Duke.
Ree, who won the Nanea Pac-12 Challenge in October to close fall action, is tied with Duke’s Leona Maguire at 3-under after 18 holes. The sophomore turned in four birdies against just one bogey in a great opening round.
Senior Victoria Morgan is tied for seventh at 1-under 70 after her five-birdie effort. She was 1 over through 15 holes before birdieing 7 and 8 to get under par.
Freshman Allisen Corpuz, playing individually, is tied for 12th at par. She opened with two early bogeys but birdied 15 and eagled 16 to get to 1-under. After a double on 2 she birdied 7 to square her round.
Senior Gabriella Then used birdies on her final two holes to get to 2-over and a tie for 20th today, senior Tiffany Chan is tied for 34th at 3-over 74 while freshman and sprint enrollee Muni He, in her Trojan debut, is tied for 73rd at 7-over 78.
Action continues Monday at 9 a.m. and Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
