No. 1 USC Advances To Liz Murphey Match Play Winners Bracket

    Junior Kyung Kim carded a 3-over 75 to lead the USC women's golf team on a cold and windy first round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga., Friday (March 27), the Trojans off their game but just good enough to earn a berth into the winners bracket for the next two days of match play.

    Top-ranked USC finished a combined 29-over 317 to tie for seventh, 16 back of first-place UCLA. The top eight teams in the 12-team field will play three rounds of match play to determine the event champion, two Saturday and one Sunday.

    Kim led USC at 3-over 75, tied for seventh, with two birdies on the day while junior Annie Park is tied for 11th at 4-over 74 with four birdies on the day.

    Freshman Amy Lee tied for 40th at 10-over while sophomore Gabriella Then tied for 48th at 12-over.

    Sophomore Karen Chung finished 59th at 15-over 87.
