The No. 2 USC women’s golf team, led by pair of 75s from senior Victoria Morgan and freshman Allisen Corpuz, advanced to the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic championship match play bracket on Friday (April 7) thanks to a tie for fifth after 18 holes of stroke play at the UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga.

The Trojans, who won the event in 2014 and 2015, tied for fifth with Auburn and Oklahoma State at 22-over 210 in the 12-team event. After tiebreakers, USC earned the six seed in the eight-team championship bracket and will face No. 1 Alabama in the first match play round. The Crimson Tide tied for second with Denver at 15-over, but finished as the third seed. Host Georgia captured the top seed with a 9-over 297.

Morgan and Corpuz each posted three birdies during their rounds today to tie for 11th. Freshman Muni He tied for 27th at 7-over 79 while seniors Gabriella Then and Tiffany Chan tied for 38th at 9-over 81.

Should USC win Saturday morning’s match play against Alabama, Troy would face the winner of No. 2 seed Denver and No. 7 seed Oklahoma State in the afternoon. The final round is set for Sunday.

USC enters the match play portion of the event at 5-1 this year and was 8-2 in match play competition last season.
