Lacrosse Magazine Top 20 Preseason Poll | The Rise of the Women of Troy Feature

    Jan. 7, 2016

LOS ANGELES -- Lacrosse Magazine featured the Women of Troy in its January 2016 issue as USC prepares to begin its fourth year. Under the direction of head coach Lindsey Munday, the Trojans earned the program's first NCAA tournament bid in 2015 and now look to go even further as the 2016 season approaches.

When last season drew to a close, the Women of Troy received their first-ever national ranking: No. 20 on the Inside Lacrosse media poll. This season, USC is ranked in its first-ever preseason poll at No. 20 in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine poll. The Trojans will open the season on Saturday, Feb. 13, with a 3 p.m. game against Stetson at McAlister Field.

In a historic season for the program, Munday was named the 2015 MPSF Coach of the Year as USC put seven players on the MPSF All-Conference team including MPSF Player of the Year Michaela Michael. The Trojans had their most wins in a season (14), most conference victories (8), and a program-best second-place finish in the MPSF; the team's first appearance in the MPSF tournament final, and an unprecedented selection to the NCAA tournament field. There, USC earned a first-round win over James Madison before falling to third-seeded Duke in the round of 16. USC received its first votes in the IWLCA Coaches Poll this season, and completed the year with a 14-6 overall record (8-1 in the MPSF).
