LOS ANGELES -- USC women's lacrosse junior attacker Kylie Drexel (Davis, Calif.) was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Offensive Player of the Week for the week of March 14-20. It is Drexel's second-career weekly award from the MPSF. California goalie Jenny Wilkens was chosen for Defensive Player of the Week and Stanford attacker Anna Salemo was named Rookie of the Week.
Drexel's selection marks the fifth MPSF award won by a USC player this season. Trojans have won MPSF weekly honors 17 times in program history with seven offensive awards, five defensive awards, and five rookie of the week honorees.
In three games this week, Drexel scored 11 goals and had three straight hat-trick outings to propel the Trojans to a 3-0 record. She also dished out an assist, produced a .933 shots-on-goal percentage, won five draws, and picked up four ground balls. Drexel earned two game-winning goals to give her three this season. In a pivotal top-15 matchup with Stony Brook, she scored four goals on just five shots. Against California, she scored four more goals and led the team with three draw controls. Then, in a 20-3 win over Saint Mary's, Drexel had three goals and an assist to go with two ground balls. She has now had five games (out of seven) with at least a hat trick this season.
The eighth-ranked Women of Troy (7-0) are home to host Dartmouth (4-2) on Wednesday, March 23, at 2 p.m. PT and then play their first home MPSF game against Oregon on Sunday, March 27 at noon. Both games will be carried live by Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Los Angeles.
