LOS ANGELES -- USC women's lacrosse senior defender Courtney Tarleton (Ridgewood, N.J.) was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive Player of the Week for the week of April 4-10. It is her third-career weekly honor from the league, her second this season. Colorado's Johnna Fusco was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Oregon's Shannon Williams was chosen as the league's Rookie of the Week.

Tarleton's selection is the school-record eighth MPSF award won by a USC player this season. Five different Trojans have received weekly honors. Tarleton (twice) and junior attacker Michaela Michael (three times) each have multiple awards. Women of Troy have won MPSF weekly honors 20 times in program history with eight offensive awards, seven defensive awards, and five rookie of the week honorees.

This week, Tarleton directed the USC defense to a pair of key MPSF road victories and helped the Trojans remain undefeated; just one of two remaining teams in the nation without a loss. In USC's 9-8 win over Colorado, Tarleton had three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Then, in a 9-6 win over Denver, she matched a career mark with five caused turnovers and two ground balls. The Trojans have led the nation in scoring defense for much of the year and have a 4.92 goals-against average thanks to Tarleton's stout defensive unit.

The sixth-ranked Women of Troy (13-0, 7-0 MPSF) head to the Midwest this week for a pair of pivotal non-conference road games against ranked foes. USC and No. 12 Northwestern (6-6) will meet at 7 p.m. CT (5 p.m. PT) on Friday, April 15, in Evanston, Ill., in a game to be shown on Big Ten Network Plus via the BTN2Go app. Then, the Trojans head to South Bend, Ind., for a matchup with No. 7 Notre Dame (10-4) on Monday, April 18, at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT). The Trojans and the Fighting Irish will be shown live on ESPN3.
