No. 14 USC Rowing Set to Defend Crew Classic Cup

    LOS ANGELES -- The 14th-ranked USC women's rowing team will take to the waters of Mission Bay this weekend (April 2-3) for the 43rd annual San Diego Crew Classic regatta. The Trojans' varsity eight is the five-time defending champion of the prestigious Jessop-Whittier Cup.

    USC's varsity eight will be the first to face the field in the Women's Collegiate Varsity Heat B. Racing in event No. 13 at 8:48 a.m. PT, the Trojans will take on No. 9 Texas, No. 20 UCLA, San Diego, and University of Victoria. In the other heat, No. 2-ranked California, No. 11 Washington State, No. 18 Gonzaga, No. 13 Wisconsin, and British Columbia will battle for spots in Sunday's grand final.

    In the Women's Collegiate Varsity 4+ division, the Women of Troy will race in event No. 16 at 9:12 a.m. PT against Washington State, Tennessee, Sacramento State, and Humboldt State.

    In the Women's Collegiate 2V, USC races in event No. 22 at 10 a.m. PT in Heat C against Washington State, Tennessee, British Columbia, Loyola Marymount, and Fordham.

    The Trojans will also enter a third eight in the Women's Open division and race in event No. 37 set for 12:20 p.m. PT. The Women of Troy will face Texas, Gonzaga, Sacramento State, UC San Diego, and College Club Seattle.

    In a final-only race, USC will also enter a second four, which will race in event No. 103 set for 11:52 a.m. PT on Sunday (April 3). In that race, the Trojans take on San Diego, UCLA, Sacramento State, and San Diego State.
