USC Rowing Challenges Crosstown Rival UCLA

    LOS ANGELES--The No. 13 USC women’s rowing team will travel to Ballona Creek in Marina del Rey, Calif. to challenge crosstown rival UCLA in their annual dual meet on Sunday (April 30). The Women of Troy have never lost to the Bruins in their 15 all-time meetings of the two crews. USC’s varsity eight has defeated UCLA’s top boat in each of those head-to-head races.

    The dual will begin at 2 p.m. PT as the varsity four hits the water first with the second varsity eight scheduled to race at 2:15 p.m. The day will conclude with the varsity eight as the grand finale at 2:30 p.m. 

    USC will not be entering a third varsity eight boat in the regatta, so UCLA's 3V8 and novice eight boats will race befor the dual officially begins at 1:45 p.m. The Bruins will automatically earn one point for racing a 3V8 boat. 

    Last year, the Trojans swept the Bruins in every race to win the dual with a 7-0 score to claim their 15th consecutive win over UCLA.

    1:45 p.m. - UCLA's Third Varsity Eight and Novice Eight (3V8 & N8)
    2:00 p.m. - Varsity Four (V4)
    2:15 p.m. - Second Varsity Eight (2V8)
    2:30 p.m. - Varsity Eight (V8)

    Varsity Eight = 3 points
    Second Varsity Eight = 2 points
    Varsity Four = 1 point
    Third Varsity Eight = 1 point


    The Bruins boathouse is located at 14001 Fiji Way (Marina del Rey, CA 90292). From the 405 freeway, take the 90 West (Marina del Rey Freeway) and follow that route until its end. The freeway turns into a surface street. Make a left on Mindanao. Turn left to Lincoln Blvd. Make a right to Fiji Way.



    The Aquatic Center is located at the end of Fiji Way behind an apartment complex. Parking at the boathouse is only available on non-race days. On UCLA's race days, parking is available off Fiji Way at the Fisherman's Village, which is a five-minute walk from the boathouse. Spectators can also park at Dock 52, a 15-minute walk from the boathouse. There is no cost to attend any UCLA rowing event.
