LOS ANGELES--The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) has announced its 2017 NCAA Division I National Scholar-Athletes. Senior Kaelyn Ibold, juniors Chloe Chrysikopoulos and Ida Gørtz Jacobsen and sophomore Krete Koovit were each named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes for their outstanding performance in the classroom.

The Trojans now have 34 all-time scholar-athlete selections. This is Ibold’s third recognition and Jacobsen’s second time winning the award.

To be nominated for scholar-athlete recognition, the student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution; be in her second, third, or fourth year of eligibility; and rowed in her institution's NCAA eligible boats for a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races. All selected student-athletes have a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average or higher for her career (through the fall semester or quarter for the current competition year).

In addition, the Pac-12 Conference named its All-Academic Rowing teams today (June 9). Juniors Jordyn Alves, Chloe Chrysikopoulos and Ida Gørtz Jacobsen were named to the All-Academic First Team, while senior Kaelyn Ibold and sophomore Krete Koovit were selected to the Second Team. In addition, juniors Isabel Fitter, Katie Hubert, Nikoline Laidlaw, Kate Melberg, Kendall Sinosky, Sasha Varekova and sophomore Brooke Downes each received Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention.

Jacobsen is now a two-time first team selection as she holds a 3.86 GPA as she double majors in global studies and comparative literature with a minor in architecture. Ibold makes her third-career second team selection and graduated with a 3.50 GPA while majoring in cinematic arts critical studies.

To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12 all-academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team's scheduled regular-season events.
