No. 6 Trojans Defeat Arizona State with Big Second Half, 2-0|

TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 6 Trojans came out in a big way in the second half, notching goals from Katie Johnson and Savannah Levin to head home with a 2-0 victory over Arizona State on Saturday evening at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.
“Today was a great road win for us,” said head coach Keidane McAlpine. Both goals were big time goals that were very timely.”
The Trojans (11-3, 5-1 Pac-12) had some opportunities in the first half tallying five shots to the Sun Devils’ two, but really put things together in the second half.
The Trojans came out firing from the opening whistle of the second half, earning a corner kick just 1:12 into the second half.
In the 58th minute the Trojans got on the board as Leah Pruitt made an outstanding run down the right side of the pitch, taking it to the end line and dishing it off to a waiting K. Johnson inside the box who hammered it home for the eventual game winner. The goal ties her for the team lead with seven.
Then in the 76th minute, Levin decided to take it upon herself, on the dribble from nearly midfield, she beat multiple defenders and took a shot from the top of the box that landed top shelf for her first goal of the season. The shot gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead.
Goalkeeper Sammy Jo Prudhomme collected five saves on the day, notching her eighth shutout of the year.
Overall the Trojans outshot the Sun Devils 11-9 and tallied three corners, while not allowing the Sun Devils any.
Levin led the team with three shots on the day.
The Trojans will return home to McAlister Field, hosting Washington State at 2 p.m. PT on Thursday, Oct. 20. The game will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks.
