Freeman Named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week|
Sept. 22, 2015
SAN FRANCISCO - USC junior midfielder Mandy Freeman was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for September 14-20, it was announced today by the Conference.
Freeman had a foot in each of the Trojans' goals that came in the run of play over the weekend. First, in USC's 3-1 victory of Pacific, Freeman assisted on the team's first goal of the game, setting up Sydney Johnson for her third goal of the year. The other two goals came from the penalty spot.
Then against Saint Mary's on Sunday, Freeman assisted on the Trojans' first goal of the game and then netted her own in the 67th minute, scoring on a long-distance shot from 20 yards out for her first career strike. The Trojans won, 2-0, and are unbeaten in their last four matches.
It is the program's 32nd all-time weekly honor and the first of Freeman's career. Junior Kayla Mills and redshirt junior Dominique Randle have been named Pac-12 Defensive Players of the Week earlier this season.
The Trojans open up Pac-12 play on Saturday, Sept. 26, welcoming Oregon State to McAlister Field for a 1p.m. PT match. For tickets visit gettrojantix.com or call 213-740-GOSC .
