Oct. 25, 2016
SAN FRANCISCO – USC senior goalkeeper Sammy Jo Prudhomme was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week for the fourth time this season, it was announced today by the Conference office.
Prudhomme earned her individual ninth and 10th shutouts of the season as the Trojans defeated Washington State 3-0 last Thursday and Washington 1-0 on Sunday. The 10 individual shutout victories are the most by any Trojan goalkeeper in the regular season.
On Thursday against Washington State, Prudhomme made three saves on 15 Cougar shots to preserve the victory and the shutout. She followed up that performance with two saves on 11 shots in a close 1-0 victory over visiting Washington on Sunday. The 1-0 victory marks the only game the Trojans have won this year by just one goal.
This honor marks the fourth time this season Prudhomme has been named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week. She previously was Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week twice during her first two seasons at Oregon State.
The Trojans are set for two big road matches this week with Conference title implications. The Trojans first travel to Utah for a 6 p.m. PT tilt on Thursday, Oct. 27, before heading to No. 22 Colorado for a 11 a.m. PT match on Sunday, Oct. 30.
