No. 1 USC Punches Up 5-0 Win Over Panthers for 16-0 Start|

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The top-ranked USC beach volleyball team (16-0) posted a 5-0 sweep of No. 9 Georgia State (11-7) to conclude a 4-0 run at the Gamecock Grand Slam on Wheeler Beach on Sunday, March 26. The win kept the Women of Troy undefeated on the season and extended the Trojans' winning streak to 46 consecutive duals.
Sophomore Abril Bustamante and freshman Joy Dennis earned the first dual point for the Trojans with a 21-15, 21-16 win over Jessica Fourspring and Brooke Weiner at the No. 4 position. It took three sets, but seniors Sophie Bukovec and Allie Wheeler pulled out a 14-21, 21-16, 15-13 win over Haley Pa'akaula and LeeAnn Starr for a 2-0 USC lead.
Junior Terese Cannon and senior Nicolette Martin delivered the clinching knockout blow from court three where they defeated Amie Held and Natalie Wilson, 21-9, 21-14. At court five, juniors Jenna Belton and Jo Kremer put together a 21-19, 21-12 win over Georgia Johnson and Olivia Stasevich for a fourth USC point.
With the dual decided, a fifth point for the sweep came from USC's top duo of seniors Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes. The Trojans earned their 91st consecutive win with a 21-9, 21-11 victory over Delaney Rohan and Chelsea Ross at the top court. In a non-counting match, sophomore Katrina Kernochan and freshman Lainey Thomas took a 21-16, 21-5 win over Maddie Gordon and Ashley McGinn.
Up next, USC returns home to Merle Norman Stadium to host California for a dual on Tuesday, March 28. The Trojans and the Golden Bears will be shown live on Pac-12 Los Angeles and Pac-12 Bay Area.
