No. 1 USC Bounces Bears in 5-0 Sweep at Pac-12 Championships|

LOS ANGELES -- The top-seeded and No. 1-ranked USC beach volleyball team (28-2) defeated fourth-seeded California (17-10) with a 5-0 sweep in the second round of the Pac-12 Championships at Merle Norman Stadium on Saturday, April 30. The win extended the Trojans' streak to 24 matches and advanced USC to the winner's bracket semifinal set for 9 a.m. PT on Sunday, May 1.
USC picked up the first point of the dual with a win at court four as sophomore Jenna Belton and freshman Abril Bustamante took down Teya Neff and Kaitlyn Uythoven, 21-10, 21-15. The Trojans got ahead, 2-0, when sophomore Jo Kremer and senior Zoe Nightingale completed a 21-12, 21-17 win over Katie Regalia and Rachel Wilson at court five. The win was the 11th in a row for Kremer and Nightingale.
At the top court, the Women of Troy sealed the dual decision on a 21-11, 21-8 win by juniors Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes. The tandem defeated Sarah Cole and Mia Merino to log their 42nd victory of the season and extend their winning streak to 67 straight matches.
USC added a fourth point from court three where juniors Nicolette Martin and Allie Wheeler defeated Grace Campbell and Olivia Rodberg, 21-17, 21-17, for their ninth straight win. The sweep went into the books when junior Sophie Bukovec and senior Alexa Strange topped Bryce Bark and Kory Lamet at court two, 21-17, 21-15.
Up next, the Trojans will face either second-seeded UCLA (18-4) or third-seeded Arizona (16-3) in the winner's bracket semifinal at 9 a.m. PT on Sunday, May 1. The winner of that match will advance to the title match set for 4 p.m. PT. All of Sunday's finals will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks.
