    RIO DE JANEIRO -- Three-time USC women's volleyball All-American outside hitter April Ross and her partner Kerri Walsh Jennings produced a 21-14, 21-13 win over Mariafe Artacho Del Solar and Nicole Laird of Australia in their opening match at the Beach Volleyball Arena of the 2016 Olympic Games on Sunday, Aug. 7. Representing the USA, Ross-Walsh Jennings is now 1-0 in Pool C and will have a day off between matches.

    Up next, Ross and Walsh Jennings will face China's tandem of Fan Wang and Yuan Yue on Monday, Aug. 8, at approximately midnight in Brazil (8 p.m. PT). The Chinese earned a three-set win over the Swiss pair of Isabelle Forrer and Anouk Verge-Depre earlier tonight. Fans can watch Ross-Walsh Jennings streamed live on and via the NBC app.
