LOS ANGELES - The USC women's sand volleyball team has announced its schedule for the 2014 season. The Women of Troy enter their third year as a varsity sport and will welcome teams to Merle Norman Stadium for competition on seven dates in the New Year.

The Trojans will open the season with a round of exhibition matches against alumni players on Thursday, March 6, and will play their first official dual match against Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif., on March 8.

USC and CSU Bakersfield will face off in the Trojans' first home dual match on Thursday, March 13. That weekend will continue with UCLA, Florida State, and LMU paying a visit for a set of four matches on March 14. The Trojans, Bruins, Seminoles, and the Lions will play down a bracket to name a pairs champion on March 15.

The Women of Troy will play their first matches on the Hawaiian Islands in 2014 as they face the host Wahine, first-year program Arizona, and Nebraska in Honolulu on March 19-20. The same teams will play for a pairs champion on March 21 and then play a four-team bracket to determine a team champion on March 22.

Back home, the Trojans will host Pepperdine (March 25) and then first-year program Oregon and Nebraska (March 27) at Merle Norman Stadium before they welcome UCLA and LMU back for matches on April 3. The USC-UCLA match on April 3 is set for 6:30 p.m., and will be the final home match for several Trojan seniors.

USC will spend the rest of the month of April on the road and opens with a dual at CSU Bakersfield on April 5. The Trojans then tackle the USAV Invitational in Hermosa Beach, Calif., on April 12-13, before they play in the first-ever coach-sponsored Pac-12 Championship (April 19-20). The two-day affair will crown a league champion and a pairs champion in Santa Monica, Calif.

The Trojans close out the regular season with a pair of duals at Arizona and against Grand Canyon in Tucson, Ariz., on April 26. From there, USC will await a bid into the 2014 AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball Championships, which will take place in Gulf Shores, Ala., May 2-4.

The Women of Troy completed 2013 with an appearance in the AVCA Championship semifinals. Stevi Robinson and senior captain Kirby Burnham claimed the pairs championship and were named the first-ever sand volleyball All-Americans in USC history.
