USC 800 Free Relays Post Top 3 Finishes To Open Texas Invite

    An all-freshman quartet led USC’s women’s team to third in the 800y free relay timed final while the two of the four men from Troy’s 2015 NCAA title team led it to second on Wednesday in the first night of the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invite in Austin.

    USC’s ‘A’ relay of freshmen Louise Hansson, Tatum Wade, Stanzi Moseley and Becca Mann threw down a 7:03.92 for an NCAA A cut and a third in the relay final. The B team of sophomore Kirsten Vose, senior Chelsea Chenault, sophomore Allie Wooden and senior Anika Apostalon was sixth in a B cut of 7:08.62.

    Hansson’s leadoff 1:43.33 was just off her season-best A cut of 1:43.04 while Vose’s 1:46.41 was a season-best B cut. The men followed with a second-place swim as junior Dylan Carter, sophomore Patrick Mulcare, senior Michael Domagala and junior Santo Condorelli clocked an NCAA A cut of 6:18.93, behind only Stanford’s 6.15.58 and 1.98 ahead of host Texas.



    Carter, who with Domagala were part of the Trojans’ 2015 NCAA win in the event, led off with a USC season-best NCAA A cut 1:32.61 in the first 200, fastest of the leadoff swims by 1.08.

    Action continues with prelims at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday with finals at 4 p.m. Sunday’s prelims are at 7 a.m., finals at 2 p.m.
