10 Trojans Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honors

    Senior Anika Apostalon, the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, has been tabbed a conference All-Academic first team pick while sophomore Elizabeth Stinson is a second teamer, leading a group of 10 USC women’s swimmers and divers who earned Pac-12 academic honors it was announced today.

    To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team’s scheduled regular season events. Also, a student-athlete must be in her second full season at an institution. Freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible.

    Apostalon, a co-captain and a three-time All-American this year, was a slam dunk for the Pac-12’s All-Academic first team after earning Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors at this year’s conference championship. She has a 3.92 GPA in psychology.

    Stinson, an NCAA participant last year and a 2016 Pac-12 champion, earned second team honors with a 3.62 GPA in economics.

    Eight Trojans earned honorable mention notice, including seniors Riley Hayward, Kelsey Kafka, junior Hannah Weiss, and sophomores Hanni Leach, Olivia Ontjes, Riley Scott, Allie Wooden and Maddie Wright. It is Kafka's third such honor, Weiss' second.
