The USC men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will join forces with Trojan Swim Club on Saturday (Nov. 21) at 7:30 p.m. at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center in the 2016 Fall Challenge, a benefit to raise funds for Bethune Middle School’s Mustang swim team, a squad USC student-athletes have worked closely with the past year.

Kick started by former Trojan swimmer and current USC student Jamie Christy, the relationship between Bethune and USC has connected numerous USC swimmers and divers with students from the South L.A. school to not only overcome their fear of water and learn to swim but to develop important life skills as well.

On Friday, USC’s team will visit Bethune for a clinic with students and parents and in turn, members of Bethune will attend Saturday’s meet.

Saturday’s event on the USC campus is an invitational open to the eight fastest swimmers entered in each race. All proceeds from admissions (which is $15 at the door) will go towards the Trojan Swim Club’s outreach program.

In addition to Trojan swimmers, a host of Olympic and U.S. national team stars are set to compete like Haley Anderson, Jessica Hardy, Camille Adams, Tom Shields, Michael McBroom, Zane Grothe, Cullen Jones and Katie Meili. Former Trojan and Russian Olympic star Vladimir Morozov and his fellow Russian medalist Yuliya Efimova will also race.
