WACO, TEXAS -- USC women's tennis saw its time in Waco, Texas, come to a close today with losses taken in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Round of 16. In singles play, senior Sabrina Santamaria capped off a stellar career as a Trojan with another strong NCAA effort that saw her take a loss to the draw's top seed. USC's junior-senior doubles pairing of Giuliana Olmos and Zoë Scandalis also had a tough Round of 16 draw today, facing the No. 4 seeded pair and falling to also wrap up their run of NCAA competition together at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.

Senior Sabrina Santamaria collected her third set of ITA All-American honors for singles play in her third appearance in the NCAA Singles draw. Sidelined by an ACL injury last year, Santamaria fought her way back to the courts early this year and was instrumental in driving the Trojans to the top seed in the NCAA Team Championships and on to their second NCAA Semifinal appearance in four seasons. In the 2015 NCAA Singles draw, #24 Santamaria was a force to reckon with in the first two rounds before having to square off against the bracket's top seed and #1 ranked player, Robin Anderson of UCLA. In today's NCAA Round of 16, Anderson was able to get out ahead of Santamaria and stay there for a 6-1, 6-2 decision that puts an end of Santamaria's impressive USC career. A five-time ITA All-American, 2013 NCAA Doubles Champion and 2013 Pac-12 Player of the Year, Santamaria finishes up with a 96-25 career singles record in less than four seasons of competition.

In the doubles realm, USC's #19 Giuliana Olmos and Zoë Scandalis had improved on last year's NCAA first-round appearance with this season's venture into the Round of 16. The two Women of Troy were up against the No. 4 seeded pair in the draw today, squaring off against Clemson's Gumulya/Rompies. The Tigers were able to fend off Olmos/Scandalis with a 6-4, 6-3 decision to take a place in tomorrow's quarterfinals and bring the Trojan duo's career together to a close. Olmos and Scandalis went 19-9 overall together this season to give them a 45-17 combined record in their three seasons as teammates.
