Women of Troy Zoë Katz and Madison Westby are a force to reckon with even before USC's collegiate campaign begins, having made a winning run together at the ITA/USTA National Summer Championships. Heading into her sophomore year at USC, Katz paired with incoming freshman Westby for doubles action at the summer tourney in Bloomington, Ind. Together the Trojan tandem plowed through the competition en route to a dominating 8-2 win in the title match today.

Hailing from Oklahoma, Westby comes to Troy as one-third of the nation's No. 2 ranked recruiting class. She'll join fellow freshmen Meredith Xepoleas and Gabrielle Smith for the first day of classes as Trojans in a couple weeks. But first, Westby got a chance to rub elbows with another Trojan teammate in the last week in her pairing with Katz for doubles play. Katz displayed her doubles prowess last season as a freshman, finishing her first year with the Women of Troy ranked No. 14 in the nation in doubles with senior partner Brynn Boren.

The combination of Katz and Westby proved powerful at the ITA National Summer Championships. The duo was seeded 1-4 in the draw, and after a first-round bye the pair punched up an 8-6 win over Missouri's Hine/Spearman in the Round of 16. In the quarterfinals, Katz and Westby took down a Pittsburgh-Texas pairing of Blakely/Foster with an 8-2 decision to advance to the semis. There, the Trojans faced 5-6 seeded Kauss/Klyczek of host Indiana and delivered a solid 8-4 win to jump into the final. Dartmouth's 5-6 seeded team of Craqforg/Ng wound up no match for the two Women of Troy, who dished out an 8-2 victory that locked in the championship.
