Nov. 17, 2015
USC women’s tennis has signed on another true talent with the addition of Angela Kulikov to the program, head coach Richard Gallien and associate head coach West Nott have announced. Kulikov’s national letter of intent assures that the Women of Troy will have plenty of firepower for the 2016-17 season.
“When you look to form your ideal team, Angela has many of those qualities you look for in a player,” Gallien said of Kulikov. "She understands the power of a smile and how it spreads like sunshine to all those in the room. She is a leader with impressive maturity for someone her age. She loves to compete and loves the challenge of putting it all on the line. Most importantly, she has an incessant desire to improve and get better. We are lucky to have her on our team.”
Kulikov comes to Troy from Sun Valley, Calif., with a laundry list of accomplishments already on her tennis resume. Winner of the 2013 ITF Aarhus doubles championship, Kulikov also has claimed singles titles at the 2013 Deloitte Junior Cup ITF and at the 2011 USTA G14s Regional Championships. She reached the final of the 2012 USTA G14s National Clay Court Championships and was the No. 1 ranked player in 2012 and 2013 in the Tennis Recruiting TennisRPI. In 2012, she ranked No. 7 in the nation in USTA G14s.
“The number one thing we value is mental maturity in muddy situations and Angela has this in spades,” Nott said of Kulikov. "Angela just knows how to win and has proved that at every level. Her personality is contagious and she is always upbeat and optimistic. She’s also a continuous learner and has a willingness to get down and do some ditch-digging to get the task done. I am appreciative she chose to join our culture and team!”
