    Official USA Volleyball News Release

    March 6, 2014

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USC women's volleyball sophomore outside hitter Ebony Nwanebu was chosen by USA Volleyball as one of 12 players that will serve as the U.S. Collegiate National Team during a tour of China from June 17-27, the organization announced on Thursday, March 6. Nwanebu participated in the USA Volleyball Open Tryout on Feb. 21-23 and was chosen from among 248 athletes.

The China tour roster represents 12 different collegiate programs with athletes who have remaining eligibility. Setters include Morgan Bergren (University of Kentucky, Muncie, Ind.) and Lexi Dannemiller (University of Michigan, West Chester, Ohio). Selected middle blockers are Alaysia Brown (University of San Diego, Fresno, Calif.), Briana Holman (LSU, DeSoto, Texas) and Hannah Tapp (University of Minnesota, Stewartville, Minn.). The outside hitters are Carly Kan (University of Missouri, Honolulu), Andie Malloy (Baylor University, Allen, Texas), Emily Sklar (Duke University, San Jose, Calif.) and Nicole Walch (Florida State University, Stuart, Fla.). The opposites are each from the Pac-12: Nwanebu, and Shelby Dalton (University of Utah, Moab, Utah). Rounding out the roster is libero Kori Moster (Michigan States University, Cincinnati, Ohio).

Mark Rosen, head coach at University of Michigan and a USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline coach, will serve as one of the co-head coaches for the squad. The other co-head coach will be announced later this month.

The tour is being organized by Bring It Promotions and will travel in partnership with the Pac-12 All-Star team that will be making a return trip this summer following a successful trip in 2013. Junior outside hitter Samantha Bricio will be a part of the Pac-12 All-Stars. The U.S. Collegiate National Team, which will train at USC's Galen Center June 13-15 before leaving for China, will play six matches against Chinese collegiate and adult teams.

This program is considered a second tryout for the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team.

USA Volleyball will have two other opportunities for athletes to take part in the U.S. Collegiate National Team program representing 60 total athletes this summer. USA Volleyball will announce later this month its 12-player U.S. Collegiate National Team that will play friendly matches in Maribor, Slovenia, and compete in the Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia. The European trip will take place July 9-18. UCLA Head Coach Mike Sealy will serve as the head coach of the team. He will be assisted by Jenny Glenn, head coach at University of Northern Colorado, and Kyle Robinson, head coach at Long Island University.

In addition, USA Volleyball will select 36 players to participate in the U.S. Collegiate National Team program that will train and compete in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships from June 22 to July 1. The players will be placed onto three teams and compete in a round-robin event along with a Canadian Senior A2 team.

Athlete selections, which could include sophomore outside hitter Elise Ruddins, junior middle blocker Kiara Wright, and senior middle blocker Hannah Schraer, for all three U.S. Collegiate National Team programs are being determined based on evaluations from the U.S. Women's National Team Open tryouts held Feb. 21-23 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Trojans finished third in the Pac-12 with a 16-4 mark in league matches and received the sixth seed in the NCAA tournament. USC made its 23rd consecutive (31st overall) appearance in the NCAA championships and advanced to the regional championship match for the fourth straight year. The Trojans finished with a final record of 29-6 following a hard-fought five-set loss to third-seeded Pac-12 champion Washington at the Galen Center.
