Incoming Freshmen Have Strong Showing at Junior National Championships|

LOS ANGELES - Incoming freshmen women's volleyball players Brittany Abercrombie and Jordan Dunn helped lead their respective teams to victories at the Girls Junior National Volleyball Championships on July 1 in Minneapolis.
Abercrombie's team from Coast Volleyball Club took the gold medal in the 18-Open Division, the highest division in junior volleyball. She had an incredible game hitting .350 with 9 kills. Abercrombie dominated defensively as well with 5 digs and 6 blocks. Only 1 kill was scored against her blocking tandem the entire match. After her excellent performance, she was named to the All-Tournament team.
One of the nation's top recruits, Abercrombie was named a 2014 Volleyball Magazine Fab 50, the No. 4 Prep Volleyball Senior Ace, and the No. 10 Student Sports Top 25 Seniors.
Under the tutelage of her coach, Ozhan Bahrambeygui, she helped her previous teams claim hardware as well at the Junior National Championships: a bronze medal in 2013 and gold medal in 2012.
In the 18-National Division, Jordan Dunn propelled her team from Mavericks Volleyball Club to a 3rd place finish, where she collected 10 kills and 8 blocks. Dunn made the All-Tournament Team in the National Division.
A highly regarded recruit as well, Dunn was named a 2014 Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 and the No. 25 Prep Volleyball Senior Ace.
This season, Abercrombie and Dunn will be playing outside hitter and middle blocker, respectively.
The Women of Troy open the 2014 season on the road at the Community Bankers Volleyball Classic hosted by the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. on Friday, Aug. 29.
