LOS ANGELES – Sophomore cornerback/wide receiver Adoree' Jackson and volleyball senior Samantha Bricio were named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 21-27, on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Sophomore cornerback/wide receiver Adoree’ Jackson performed a highlight reel of impressive plays in a victory over Arizona State. In front of a hostile environment of Sun Devil Stadium, Jackson rose to the occasion with 184 all-purpose yards including three receptions for 131 yards.

Quarterback Cody Kessler found Jackson by the right hash mark on a quick pass out of the backfield early in the first quarter to ignite the Trojans’ offense. From there it was nothing put pure speed as Jackson outraced the Sun Devil secondary to the end zone for a career-long 80-yard touchdown to give USC an early lead. Jackson also proved to be an electrifying force on special teams by utilizing his keen quickness and speed. As the sophomore received the first punt of the third quarter, he pulled off a fake move to the left then switched direction to his right to elude tacklers and weaved his way down the right sideline for a 45-yard return. Up next, Jackson and the No. 17-ranked Trojans face Washington on Thursday (Oct. 8) at 6 p.m. at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Also nominated for men’s student-athlete of the week: Nick Crystal (tennis) and Grant Stein (water polo)

Facing a pair of tough road matches against No. 13 UCLA and No. 8 Stanford, Samantha Bricio came through with a stalwart effort to keep The Women of Troy undefeated in their 2015 campaign. Against the Bruins, Bricio paved the way to victory behind 14.0 points on 10 kills in the three-set win over the crosstown rivals.

Bricio’s highlight performance came against Stanford where the senior scored a career-high 34.0 points in the five-set thriller over the Cardinal. After falling behind 1-2 in sets, Bricio led the comeback, tallying 13 of her 27 kills in the fourth and fifth sets. Overall, Bricio totaled 48.0 points on 37 kills in two wins over UCLA and Stanford. Bricio has now moved to fifth place at USC for all-time kills with 1,655. Following the Trojans’ two victories, Bricio was named Pac-12 Player of the Week for the seventh time in her career. The No. 2-ranked Women of Troy continue Pac-12 play at the Galen Center against Washington State on Friday (Oct. 2) at 7 p.m.

Also nominated for women’s student-athlete of the week: Sydney Johnson (soccer).
