TEMPE, ARIZ. -- The No. 1 USC women's water polo team started MPSF play with a bang today in Tempe, Ariz., in picking up a 15-6 win over No. 5 host Arizona State. The Women of Troy stay perfect on the year with the win, adding to their undefeated start to 2014 to make it a 13-0 overall mark and a 1-0 start in MPSF competition. Stephania Haralabidis and Monica Vavic led a total of nine USC scorers on the day with three goals apiece.

The Trojans opened the game with three straight scores before ASU got on the board. USC responded quickly to keep that three-goal lead intact and would later pin up four more goals in the second period of play to gather up a nice lead on the Sun Devils. Stephania Haralabidis had hauled in a hat trick by halftime, joined by Jennifer Stiefel with a pair of goals to lead the Trojan offense in the first half.

USC turned that 8-3 advantage at halftime into an 11-3 lead as the Trojans plugged in three quick scores to start the second half of action. Monica Vavic would work her way into a hat trick as she took the Trojans ahead 13-5 during the fourth frame. Colleen O'Donnell and Kelly Mendoza would wrap the day's scoring for the Trojans in making it a 15-6 final win for USC.

USC now returns home to set up for its first game at the newly-opened Uytengsu Aquatics Center. The Trojans' home opener will be an MPSF matchup against CSU Bakersfield at 5 p.m. on Saturday (March 7).
