Maud Megens Scores Another MPSF Newcomer of the Week Award|
April 4, 2017
Freshman Maud Megens scored two goals and added three assists and two steals for the Trojans as they overcame a one-goal deficit to No. 4 Arizona State to claim a final 11-4 MPSF win last week. For her all-around efforts, the Dutch standout has picked her her second straight selection as the MPSF Newcomer of the Week.
Megens delivered the opening goal before ASU moved into the lead. After an assist on the equalizer, Megens scored the go-ahead goal to make it 3-2 and then served up another assist to pad the lead to 4-2 by halftime. That was the momentum USC needed to press on to the 11-4 win, improving to 25-0 overall and to 3-0 in MPSF play. Megan’s stands as the Trojans’ second leading scorer on the year with 48 goals to date.
The Women of Troy have a key MPSF contest coming up this week, as top-ranked USC plays host to No. 2 Stanford in a rematch of the 2016 NCAA Championship game. USC looks to extend its win streak when the Cardinal come to town this Saturday (April 8) at 5 p.m. at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
