Racette Leads USC At Pac-12 Cross Country Championships|

Sophomore Sophia Racette once again was the Trojans' top finisher as the team placed 12th at the 2016 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships (6K) at the Randolph North Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz. today (Oct. 28). Tape-delayed coverage of the championships will air on the Pac-12 Networks on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 at 6 p.m. PT. Dwight Stones (analyst), Jim Watson (play-by-play) and Lewis Johnson (reporter) will call the action. Seven of the top 25 teams in the country competed today at the Pac-12 Championships.
Racette finished 60th overall (54th in the scoring) with a time of 22:18.5 to lead the Trojans today. She has been the Trojans' top finisher in all four races she has run this season. Racette got out to a fast start and was eighth after 1K with a time of 3:30 and then settled into the 50-range the rest of the race. Sophomore Amber Gore was the next Trojan to cross the finish line coming in 90th (78th in the scoring) with a time of 23:53.2.
The other Trojans to score were redshirt junior Rebekah Ent who was 99th (80th in scoring) with a time of 24:32.3, sophomore Mikaela Smith who was 100th (81st in scoring) with a time of 24:34.1 and redshirt senior Lorea Ibarzabal who was 102nd (82nd in scoring) with a time of 24:54.9.
Freshman Chloe Berry and redshirt senior Vivian Grimes did not finish the race due the effect of the intense heat, but would not have figured in the scoring. Gore also was affected by the heat at the race which was 95 degrees at start time.
USC's next scheduled meet is the NCAA West Regional in Sacramento, Calif. on Nov. 11.
