Capellino And Tong Lead USC At Pac-12 Championships

    Junior Erica Capellino led USC today at the Pac-12 Championships hosted by Colorado at the Coal Creek Golf Course in Louisville, Colo.

    Junior Erica Capellino placed 48th and sophomore Jenna Tong 68th to lead USC at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships held at the Coal Creek Golf Course in Louisville, Colo. today (Nov. 2).

    Capellino had a time of 23:19 to finish 46th in the scoring and 48th overall. It was her best finish at the conference meet, placing 92nd as a freshman and 55th as a sophomore.

    Tong was the Trojan's second finisher with a time of 24:03 to take 64th in the scoring and 68th overall. Tong and Capellino were USC's top two finishers at every meet this season.

    Junior Kira Soderstrom was the next Trojan to finish, coming in 84th (76th in the scoring) with a time of 24:53, followed by junior Erin Matranga in 94th place (79th in the scoring) with a time of 26:17, senior Lindsay Enright in 96th place (81st in the scoring) with a time of 26:48 and junior Austin Lundin in 98th with a time of 27:23.

    Injuries hurt the Trojans for the conference meet as their No. 3 and No. 4 runners, redshirt freshman Lauren Grego and sophomore Nicole Davies, both were unavailable to compete today.

    USC placed 12th with 346 points, not quite as well as they did last season when they scored 295 points, but better than two seasons ago when they totaled 384 points.
