The USC women's cross country team will compete this Saturday (Oct. 19) at the second annual Highlander Invitational at the UCR Ag/Ops Course hosted by UC Riverside. The Women's 5K gets underway at 8:30 am PT. Participating teams for the women's race will be CSU Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, Cal State Northridge, Wyoming and the Highlanders.

Making the trip to Riverside for USC will be sophomore Erica Capellino, sophomore Nicole Davies, senior Jackie Dion, senior Lindsay Enright, freshman Makenzie Jordan, junior Austin Lundin, junior Erin Matranga, sophomore Alyssa Reardon, junior Erin Robinson, junior Kira Soderstrom, sophomore Natasha Strickland and sophomore Jenna Tong.

The Trojans took second place in the 4K Highlander Invitational last season, led by Capellino who finished fourth. UCR's Damajeria DuBose won the race helping the Highlanders to a first-place team finish. The UCR Ag/Ops course is 85 percent flat with a few rolling hills and hard packed dirt with pre-competition watering to reduce dust.

Last week, USC's Capellino and Tong took first and second place at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet held in Pasadena, Calif. This will be the last regular season meet for the Women of Troy before the Pac-12 Championships held in Louisville, Colo. on Nov. 2.
